This is one of my favorites.
There is actually two uniforms to this page, so we will cover them one at a
time. JUMPSUIT
The fabric: I used wool gabardine. I just love this fabric. You'll need
about 4 yards of black,
(I always buy more than I need) About 1/2 yard of the division color. Once
again, buy your
pattern through LINCOLN ENTERPRISES. This is like a workman's jumpsuit so
remember,
It will look really big till you read on. This pattern tells you everything
you will need for this uniform
so follow what it says OK. Almost all my patterns have a 5/8" seam.
Make sure you label everything FRONT-BACK etc...begin sewing as you can see,
I omitted the Lay your pattern section, I think
you get the idea.) I have a tendency to do things backwards. You should
start with the body first,
then the yolk and sleeves.
Sew the two pieces together. You now have a Starfleet
uniform!!!! Yah right!
You still need to figure out where the waist line is for you and sew the
waist panels.
You'll have to rip open the seams where the waist panels meet the seam.
Start by pining
the panel to your uniform. Top stitch on the top and bottom of the panel.
Insert your elastic and
sew where you ripped open in the back. This will hold the elastic from the
back. Put your
uniform on. Pull the elastic room the front. You'll see the panels starting
to gather, That's ok!
they're supposed to. Once you got, Have somebody pin in place and sew back
your seam.
( I should have mentioned that your zipper should already be sewn in.)
Where the elastic meets the seam, You should reinforce the seam. Just
incase.
UNIFORM 2
This uniform is basically the same uniform, But was designed to be the
Captains uniform. Sew it exactly the same as you would the uniform above.
The,
easiest way to make this jacket is to make a full length jumpsuit, put it on
and
have a friend use chalk to draw a line 1" below the gathered panels all
the
way around your body. Remove the zipper, cut, hem and install a jacket
zipper..
For the pants use the NG pants pattern. remember! they are supposed to
be high waisted. Use suspenders to keep them in place
SHIRT The shirt can be made using the wrath of Kahn tunic pattern. Do not
quilt the collar or cuffs.Use a medium weight spandex on
the wrong side.
It has a dull finish. When installing the zipper, you must use an invisible
zipper
One trick to this uniform. On the inside of the uniform
you will have to sew an inner belt
to both sides and buckle it first, then zip up your uniform. This uniform
has seams
that run from the center of both legs all the way up to the breast. Because
of the elastic,
if you don't have the inner belt, those seams will bow outward around the
stomach area.
