The first season uniforms are unique in their own. This is not an easy uniform to make.
Took me several attempts before it started to look good. I used a
stretch super spandex. Looks good! After all, if any of the STAR TREK
uniforms are tight, this has to top it.

There are a lot of pieces to this pattern, so,
make sure you mark each one so you know
what it is. Sew each piece according to the
pattern. You will find the hardest part to this
uniform is the shoulders. The division color
that is in the piping from the shoulders to the
chest should only be about 1/4" thick after
sewing it to your pieces.

Make sure your front and back yolks match
up perfectly. If they don't, the divisional colors
wont line up. My advice is to line up the pieces
making sure that the divisional colors are alined,
pin, then sew. This pattern doesn't give a very big
seam allowance.

Once you have gotten the whole thing sewn,
there is one last step. The zipper...The zippers
are invisible zippers. Why they chose to put a
zipper in the front is beyond me. These zippers
tend to break a lot. They catch onto the fabric.
Any way's, try to match the two halves.
It's very difficult, but if I can do it, you can too!!!!

Ah the collars and shoulders??
Avery tough thing to duplicate but if done right it can be exact to the show..Don't worry
about getting it perfect..they didn't in the show either..Here are some examples of the work
Done for the show..looks good from a distance but up close they had some flaws

Nice example of a really well made uniform...Notice how the gold band at the top is
folded under..and how the middle gold band is wider on your right..

This picture gives the example on how the band is NOT sewn down to the uniform

Yet again another picture of the middle band not matching up with the other side
Funny how we would never have caught this without the beauty of the internet.

The best example of a well made uniform with all the parts matching

The final note:)
The pant bottoms

Yes by popular belief this is done the same way as the collar..
It is very important that this is done in the same color as the main body.
It's quite easy to duplicate but the process is a bit lengthy so E-Mail me for instructions

This is probably the most difficult uniform I have ever made. So hard that I just can't explain it in words. I can see why they dropped this design. I didn't really like this uniform, but, I made it during the second season. Who knew they were going to redesign them.
